Sensei J.Jamsheed, 8 Dan ITKF-JSKA
Sensei Jamsheed was born in 1948 in a place called Nishabour (The city of Omar Khayyam) in the province of Khorasan, Iran. In 1970, he travelled to the United States to study at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Whilst there, he joined the All American Amateur Karate Federation under the instruction of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama. He trained regularly and was one of his most senior students until Nishiyama passed away in 2008.
Sensei Jamsheed received his First Degree Black belt (Sho Dan) in 1974 and by March 2006 he was awarded his Seven Degree Black belt or Shichi Dan from ITKF & JKA. During that time he returned to Iran in 1976, graduating with a BS degree in civil engineering and establishing the Iran Karate Association (JKA Iran) under the HQ of Japan Karate Association in Tokyo.
He participated in the Asian JKA Championship of 1976 in Hong Kong, the 1977 IAKA world championship in Japan and coached the Iranian National Team in Germany in 1980. By 1984, after receiving his 3rd Dan (San Dan),Sensei Jamsheed returned to Iran once again and became the head coach of the National Kata team. Sensei Jamsheed coached the Iranian National Kata team (J.K.A & W.K.F) in the 1989 Asian Karate Championship in Japan, the 1992 WKF World Championship in Spain, the 1995 WKF Asian Championship in the Philippines and the WKF World Championship of South Africa in 2002. With such a distinguished record, Sensei Jamsheed is the most successful Kata coach in Iran with numerous medals in both WKF and JKA tournaments dating back to 1976. Further to this he is also an accomplished author – ‘Shotokan Karate Do’ is written in Farsi and was published in 2005, in his homeland of Iran.
